Cleveland Search Engine Optimization Community

This 15 minutes is covered by William McHenry, Associate Professor of Management at The University of Akron.
He is giving a general overview to get everyone caught up on search.

He’s talking about market share, why this matters and who is going to cover what.

His sum up is:
Search is huge. 6.4 billion searches a month. It’s not pefect. We need to optimize our sites through seo and ppc.

That sounds good enough.

I’m bad at sizing up the total number of people at an event. But I would say there are 150 or so people here. If I get a true number I’ll let you know.

Here’s a link to the Program for the day.

This is the run down of the event:

This is the synopsis of the event:

The 3rd Annual CITe Seminar

When the “dot coms” crashed after 2000 (Y2K), the brilliant future of electronic commerce was tarnished. Behind the scenes, experienced entrepreneurs have been rediscovering and polishing the best ideas. Today Web-based commerce (sometimes now dubbed “Web 2.0”) is stronger than ever, led by a new wave of firms that are customer-centered and wield the power of evolving Internet ecosystems. The central principle they have learned is how to generate profit-producing traffic from search engines and affiliates. Through several case studies, tips for web makeover by industry experts, an interactive panel discussion, and a keynote, our seminar will show you how to use these techniques to take your Internet marketing efforts to the next level. An optional hands-on workshop that follows the seminar will show you search engine optimization techniques in a step-by-step manner.

Keynote Address:

Eric Olsen, Founder & Publisher of Blogcritics.org

Making the Web Work to Market Your Business

Today I’m at a cool all day seminar titled: “Making the Web Work to Market Your Business” at The Univeristy of Akron.

It’s an interesting event because it is all about seo, usability, conversion, blogs and that sort of thing.

It really is a fairly innovative seminar for an university.

There are a lot of big Cleveland names speaking at the event.

I’m sitting next to Jeff Rohrs, the president of
Optiem – Fuel for Bright Companies. He’s on my right.

Geoff Karcher from The Karcher Group is on my left.

Paul Elliot from eMergent Marketing was to speak today. But I heard briefly that he had a meeting in New York that he had to run out to at the last minute. Another person from his group will be speaking in his place.

I’ll cover more people as the day goes on. But it should be very cool.

I’ll be blogging until 5:00.

You should expect pictures, video and a bunch of this sweet copy.
